Type of AI and Uses
Generative AI
Three tools that use generative AI are being trialed, one for outpatient and two for inpatient:
"Outpatient Insights": Creates a summary of recent medical developments for new patients, and those you have not seen recently. This automated summary is generated 36 hours before a patient’s appointment so you can review it ahead of their appointment.
"Inpatient Summaries": Combs through notes from the patient’s current admission encounter and other data to help you get up to speed on a patient during pre-rounding and rounding workflows.
"Inpatient Hospital Course": Pulls together relevant information for a patient's hospital course. The generated summary can be used as a starting point in creating your own hospital course note or hospital course section of your discharge summary.
Predictive AI
A clinician-faciing predicted discharge disposition tool is available to assist with inpatient discharge planning. This uses a machine learning AI model to anticipate the type of living arrangement, and level of support, a patient is mosst likely to need at discharge from hospital.
Who Has Access
Some tools (e.g., Inpatient Hospital Course) are restricted to a limited number of clinicians while undergoing evaluation. Others (e.g., Predicted Discharge Disposition) are generally available but awaiting evaluation results before supports are fully developed.
