Modified Early Warning System (MEWS) and Pediatric Early Warning System (PEWS)
Modified Early Warning System (MEWS) and Pediatric Early Warning System (PEWS)
Early Warning Systems are composite scores of vital signs and other clinical parameters which can help anticipate clinical deterioration. The purpose is to detect early, subtle, changes that may be overlooked. In Connect Care, we are using Modified Early Warning System (MEWS) and Pediatric Early Warning System (PEWS) scores in patient lists and chart summaries to help teams intervene early and prevent clinical deterioration.
Many physicians will be seeing MEWS or PEWS scores for the first time in Connect Care. These are for information only, appearing in patient lists for inpatients, but are worth getting to know.
