Wisdom Dental Application Launch

The first phase of the Wisdom Dental application launch in Connect Care is scheduled for November 23, 2026. This phase will include:

Public Health Dental Clinics in Calgary and Red Deer
Correctional Health dental services in Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan, Calgary, and Lethbridge

Additional Wisdom launch phases (for other sites and for Connect Care billing) are scheduled for 2027.

Comprehensive training, support resources, and readiness activities for impacted dentists and prescribers will be provided by the Chief Medical Information Office (CMIO). Please see the below sections for further details.

What Is Changing (click to expand/collapse)

Beginning November 23, dentists in Public Health and Correctional Health Dental Clinics will use Connect Care Wisdom for:

Clinical documentation and patient care
Patient registration
Appointment scheduling
Front-desk and administrative workflows

The introduction of Wisdom in Connect Care will:

Integrate dental information into the patient's longitudinal health record
Standardize dental workflows across participating sites
Improve information sharing and care coordination
Reduce system fragmentation
Establish the foundation for a fully integrated dental billing solution

Launch Supports for Prescribers (click to expand/collapse)

From November 23 to December 4, virtual drop-in support will be available at the below listed times for Public Health and Corrections dentists and prescribers. Instructions on how to connect to the virtual session will be added here closer to launch.

Additional Information and Resources

Beginning October 20, 2026, prescribers who log in to the Calgary Zone Dentistry virtual department will see new "Wisdom" dental tools and activities in Connect Care. These features should not be used until launch and required training is complete.

While clinical and operational workflows will transition to Connect Care, Power Practice will remain the billing system during the transition period.
